The Cockroach Show
1997, Soho Rep, HERE and Nada
Written by Raquel Hecker and Ben Medley
“Actors are like cockroaches, they just won’t die.”
In the show that started it all, Ben and Raquel play giant singing cockroaches teaching children to just say “no” to drugs. Humiliated by the costumes and bad script, Ben convinces Raquel to ditch the children’s show and start doing what they have always wanted: to act. What was intended to shine soon begins to stink as Ben and Raquel’s fierce competition and need for attention takes over.
